Thomas McIntosh , Pianist/Conductor and Artistic Director of Artsanglia Ltd
(charity number 290754), will be featured in two solo piano recitals at The Old
School during the Easter holiday season. The influence of Eastern European
composers in the concert is a recurring theme, which opens with Franz Joseph
Haydn’s magnificent Piano Sonata in E minor, composed at Eisenstadt for Prince
Esterhazy, not too far from Franz Liszt’s birthplace at Raiding, Hungary. The
Hungarian composer’s Twelve Transcendental Etudes, a cornerstone of 19th century
piano repertoire, form the main thrust of the programme, which is rounded out with
the inclusion of In the Mist , a set of four gem-like miniatures by Czech composer
Leoš Janáček.
Tickets for the Saturday evening concert, 19:30, include a glass of wine, and tickets
for the Sunday afternoon concert, 14:30, include afternoon tea. The optional supper
menu for Saturday evening includes Navarin of Lamb with Jacket Potatoes and
Green Beans, Rice Cream Connaught, and Coffee.
